Meilin has over 20 years of work experience in sustainable research and practices, and design and project management in hospitality and commercial sectors. Her expertise encompasses leading sustainable design and project management at Shangri-la Group (SLG) (Hong Kong and Singapore) and Huafa Group (HFG) (Zhuhai, China), researching green building certification schemes and developing criteria for green building interiors to enhance the environmental quality of occupant-centric spaces at Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) and design consulting at the world-leading hospitality design firms in Wilson Associates (WA) and Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA).

She is certified in ISO 14064 Managing Green House Gas Emission (BSI) and certified in GRI Standard Reporting 2021 (GRI).

Effectively communicate business purpose and goals with clarity, integrity, and enthusiasm. Experienced and trained in strategic project management and collaborating with multi-disciplinaries to deliver multiple projects from start to completion on time with cost-efficient results. Key projects are One Galle Face Lifestyle Development which encompassed Shangri-la Colombo Hotel, The Mall, Residence and Office Tower, and Shangri-la’s Hambantota Golf & Resort in Sri Lanka.

Received Certification in Professional Project Management (PMI).

Drove and delivered a culture emphasising continuous improvement, efficiency, and new service/product design to meet customer needs and business objectives.  Experienced in interior design with substantial FFE specifications, technical skills, and good eyes for design/ details. Problem-solve design and operations through service design and design thinking methodologies to enhance user-centric experiences. Curated new sustainable guestroom experiences at Jen Beijing and co-working experiences at Connect, Shangri-la Colombo.

Sustainability Practices

Developed and collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to assess environmental and social impact and deliver the initiative of Sustainability Strategies Green Design Standards and Practices that align with the Group’s ESG goals. Driven to reduce environmental footprint by continuously reviewing materials, improving operational efficiencies, and avoiding waste.  Researched on latest developments and best practices in sustainability impact measurement, report, and disclosure.

Developed and collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a Sustainability Strategic Partnership and Procurement Program (SLG) that delivers timely, high-quality/ service, cost-effectiveness, and responsible resources. Established local and sustainable resources to support and engage local communities while working on Sri Lankan projects.

Conducted assessments for new projects and Asset Enhancement Initiatives to meet Sustainability Roadmap targets. Coordinated with internal and external stakeholders to complete assessment and recommend risk-mitigation and sustainable solutions opportunities.

Experienced in healthy and sustainable building interiors that enhance the environmental qualities of occupant-centric interior space. Researched and developed sustainability framework and criteria for building with energy efficiency, resource efficiency, health and wellbeing, low carbon emission, waste management and intelligent integration to align with the Singapore BCA Green Mark Scheme, SG Hotel/MICE Sustainability Roadmap and UN Sustainability Development Goals.
